About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Soquel, Café Cruz is a standout destination for lovers of New American and traditional American cuisine. This charming restaurant offers a carefully curated menu that blends comforting classics with inventive twists, delivering an unforgettable dining experience in a warm and inviting atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly baked bread paired with the zing of cracked garlic and fragrant balsamic vinegar immediately lights up your senses—an enticing preview of what’s to come.

The menu at Café Cruz showcases an array of flavorful dishes that highlight the best of both land and sea. Start with the Monterey Bay Crispy Calamari, perfectly crisped and served alongside a tangy caper tartar and fresh horseradish cocktail sauce that awakens your palate. For a savory yet elegant option, the Harris Ranch Filet Mignon delivers tender, juicy richness, while the Calamari Steak Sandwich offers a delightful balance of textures and bold flavors. The Maryland Crab Cakes are a true crowd-pleaser—golden on the outside, tender and moist inside, packed with fresh crab flavor that’s complemented beautifully by subtle seasoning.

Salads here are far from ordinary. The Chop Salad, for example, is a vibrant mosaic of pulled rotisserie chicken, crunchy Granny Smith apples, smoky Applewood bacon, dried cranberries, and gorgonzola cheese, all tied together with a creamy lemon basil vinaigrette that harmonizes the dish’s complex layers. Another memorable choice is the Salade Nicoise, featuring grilled rare Ahi Tuna paired with potato fritters, roasted beets, and wild arugula for an elegant and nourishing bite.

Pasta lovers will find themselves enchanted by offerings such as the Linguini Cruz, enriched with roasted tomato and Kalamata olive tapenade, fennel, artichoke hearts, and a delicate saffron butter sauce. The Pappardelle Bolognese is equally indulgent, boasting a house-ground blend of beef and pork tenderloin in a richly seasoned tomato fennel sauce. And don’t miss the Grilled Skirt Steak with fresh basil and gorgonzola Alfredo—a luscious, hearty creation that melds creamy and savory notes with al dente pasta.

What truly elevates Café Cruz is not only the thoughtful, innovative menu but also the exceptional service and welcoming environment. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff who make everyone feel like family—"Able" and Michelle, in particular, have been celebrated for their warm smiles and attentive care. Whether you're dining inside in a cozy ambiance or outside under heat lamps on a cool evening, the atmosphere feels effortlessly refined yet comfortable, ideal for everything from casual lunches to special celebrations. A local favorite, Café Cruz effortlessly captures the essence of Soquel’s vibrant culinary scene.

And when it comes to finishing your meal, the desserts here are not to be overlooked. The Polar Bear Famous Mud Pie and classic Creme Brulee offer sublime sweetness—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced—an ideal reward for your taste buds after a savory adventure.

In short, Café Cruz is a culinary gem where each dish reflects careful craftsmanship and passion. Whether you're craving the best fries you've ever tasted, fresh fish tacos with a Cajun twist, or a meticulously prepared Bloody Mary to pair with your meal, this restaurant invites you to savor every bite and feel truly at home.

Food was excellent! We had the crab cakes, beet salad, ahi tuna salad. And the best thing is definitely the bread! Fresh made and served with fresh, delicious balsamic and crushed garlic. This place is really a gem. Parking can be tricky but there’s more spots in the back parking lot.

This place has DELICIOUS food! Just wow. Best fries I have ever eaten. The rotisserie chicken was soooo good. And such a beautiful ambiance. Waitress Michelle was top tier. Highly recommend this spot. We dined outside and the heater were awesome. We are in from Ohio. Love this spot.

We celebrated our wedding reception here and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Kenneth was so helpful and made the coordination a breeze. He even made the perfect custom Halloween menus for our event. Alex was our server, he has the best smile and made everyone feel tended to even though our group was about 25 people. The food was delicious and came out amazing. All my guests loved it! Thank you for making my wedding a success!

We were a group of 8 that arrived early. Thankfully, we were seated in the bar area where we had cocktails and then sat at a nice, somewhat secluded table for dinner. The crab cakes appetizer was fabulous, the bread with oil & vinegar was great, along with our meals. Thank you so much for the friendly atmosphere. The only downside was the parking as we had to park across the street as there were other private business signs. We will visit again.

I thought the dinner was great. I'm still gonna give them a five. Maybe they had an "off" night but the kitchen was a little slow. My wife and I were drinking so we were fine , but we kept hearing it from the kids. But the food was great and they enjoyed it. The atmosphere is awesome. It's always good to see a packed restaurant with people enjoying the food...especially when you have a seat! Haha
